Dear Valued Client,
Greetings from the staff at Melbourne Podiatrists & Orthotics. Just a friendly note to remind you it is now time for your next podiatry appointment.
Diabetes can cause a number of complications in the feet most notably:
- Damage to the small nerve endings in the feet (neuropathy).
- Reduction in blood circulation to the feet.
This can lead to foot complications and for this reason it is important to have your feet regularly checked by one of our podiatrists.
National Diabetes Health Care Guidelines recommend people with diabetes have their feet checked by a podiatrist at least every 12 months.
As well as any general foot treatment, a new diabetes foot assessment may need to be performed if it has been over a year since your last assessment. This involves testing of the nerves and arteries in your feet, with a written report sent to your GP. This requires a separate 30 minute appointment to any general foot treatment and your podiatrist will discuss this with you in more detail at your next appointment.
Please phone the practice now on 9882 5584 to schedule your appointment. Alternatively you can now book your appointment online.
We look forward to seeing you soon.
Warm regards,
Sam Brown
