CAM Walker Hire
CAM Walker Hire – Terms & Conditions
Acceptance
You accept hire of a CAM Walker by verbally agreeing to hire a CAM Walker and buy paying the deposit and applicable rental rate.
Hire Rate Charge
The hire rate charge will be verbally communicated by the podiatrist and can be found on the initial CAM Walker hire receipt.
Hygiene & CAM Walker Hire Condition
Each CAM Walker hired has a brand new liner so there are no hygiene concerns.
All CAM Walkers shells and straps are checked, cleaned and assessed to make sure they are in good working condition prior to any rental.
Replacement Liners
Replacement liners can be purchased from the clinic without an appointment. Please phone and check stock before coming into the clinic.
Deposit
A deposit is taken on all CAM Walkers. This deposit will be used if the CAM Walker is rented out longer than initial hire arrangement or retuned late.
Any remaining deposit will be refunded when the CAM Walker is returned. A CAM Walker will not be rented out if a patient refuses to pay a deposit.
Weeks Rental
A week’s rental will be calculated from the date of the initial hire. For example, if the CAM Walker was initially hired on a Tuesday a new week’s rental will begin on the next Tuesday.
CAM Walker Returns
It is the sole responsibility of the patient to return the CAM Walker to the clinic after the rental period. It is the patient’s responsibility to return the CAM Walker on a day and during hours the clinic is open for business. It is important to note that the clinic is only open some Saturdays and is closed on Sundays.
A CAM Walker may be returned to reception without an appointment. We do not chase up CAM Walkers and we do not send overdue reminders.
Provided the CAM Walker is returned on time and has not been damaged (as outlined below) any remaining deposit will be refunded.
We allow a 5 day grace return period (includes weekend days) without charge from the end of the rental period. If a CAM Walker is returned 6 days or more late you will be charged an extra week’s rental.
Late Returns
If you keep the CAM Walker longer than the initial rental period you will be charged any applicable extra week’s rental, regardless if the boot has been worn or not. The deposit will be used for payment.
We allow a 5 day grace return period (includes weekend days) without charge from the end of the rental period. If a CAM Walker is returned 6 days or more late you will be charged an extra week’s rental.
All late and extra weeks charges will be solely at the discretion of the treating podiatrist.
Early Returns & Refunds
If a CAM Walker is returned earlier than the hire rental period then the patient may be due a refund on any remaining weeks rental provided the CAM Walker has not been damaged as outlined below.
For any refund on an early return the CAM Walker must be returned before the start of any remaining weeks rental. If a CAM Walker is returned 1 day or more into a new rental week then that week’s hire charge will still stand.
Refunds will only be applicable for any out of pocket rental cost. Health fund rebates will not be refunded.
CAM Walker Purchase After Hire Period
If a CAM Walker has been kept for 4 weeks or longer and all the deposit has been used up then the boot will deem to be purchased. In this instance the patient can keep the boot.
A patient may also choose to keep the current boot with a shorter rental period by requesting that their remaining deposit be used to purchase the boot outright.
Receipts
All receipts for extra weeks rental or purchase of hired CAM Walkers will be emailed to the patient so they can claim from their health fund.
Damaged CAM Walkers
If a CAM Walker has been damaged beyond repair by the patient (except for fair wear and tear) and can no longer be rented out then the patient may forfeit all or part of their deposit.
CAM Walker may be deemed damaged if there is damage to:
- Shell
- Straps
- Buckles and fasteners
And the CAM walker is deemed not functional for future rentals
The following is exempt from damages as they are subject to fair wear and tear:
- Liners
- Tread
Any charge due to a damaged CAM Walker will be solely at the discretion of the treating podiatrist. Any remaining deposit will be used for any charges associated with damage.
