Nail Surgery Guarantee
100% Cure Nail Surgery Guarantee
At Melbourne Podiatrists & Orthotics we know the pain caused through an ingrown toenail. Fortunately nail surgery when performed accurately by a podiatrist can cure an ingrown toenail. At Melbourne Podiatrists & Orthotics we pride ourselves on professional care and quality service. That is why all nail surgery performed by our podiatrists comes with our 100% cure guarantee.
There is nothing worse than an ingrown toenail returning soon after nail surgery. The main reasons for this occurring are:
- A small nail spike left at the root when the nail has been resected allowing for regrowth
- Phenol not adequately destroying the nail matrix allowing for nail regrowth
We estimate that these things only occur in a very small percentage of cases. If this happens to you or the original ingrown toenail problem returns following nail surgery then our podiatrists will happily perform the nail surgery again to fix the problem at no extra charge.
Terms and conditions:
1. Eligibility
- This guarantee applies only to nail surgery performed by our podiatrists at our clinic.
- This guarantee is available to both partial nail avulsions and total nail avulsions. Any repeat nail surgery as outlined in this guarantee will also be eligible.
- Some nail surgeries or foot types may not be eligible under this guarantee. The podiatrist will let you know pre-surgery if the nail surgery guarantee does not apply to your situation.
- To be eligible for our nail surgery guarantee you must attend all redressing appointments as advised by the podiatrist and the 3 month post-surgery review consultation.
- All redressing appointments are included in the cost of nail surgery. The 3 month post-surgery review is a separate billed consultation. Nails are slow growing so this 3 month follow up is essential to ensure that the excised nail has not regrown.
- Under this guarantee if nail surgery is deemed unsuccessful according to the criteria below, our podiatrists will perform repeat nail surgery at no extra charge. Nail surgery deemed successful will no longer be eligible under this guarantee.
- This guarantee only covers nail surgery performed within a 12 month time frame. This is usually plenty of time to determine if nail surgery is successful or not. Please be aware that nails may still curve in future as they respond to pressure and trauma. Therefore ingrown toenails can still recur in future over many years if the nail is subject to this repeated pressure. All ingrown toenails returning after 12 months duration will be deemed to be due to new causes and will be treated as a new ingrown toenail.
2. Successful nail surgery
- The podiatrist will ultimately decide if nail surgery is successful or not.
2. Nail surgery will be deemed successful if:
a) Surgery fixes the original issue and the original issue does not return again. For ingrown nails this means that the nail does not become ingrown again in the following 12 months after surgery.
b) Surgery fixes the original issue but results in a small section of nail growth, provided the new nail growth does not re-offend or cause further issue.
c) At least 12 months has lapsed post-nail surgery and there has been no reported problems.
3. Unsuccessful nail surgery
- The podiatrist will ultimately decide if nail surgery is unsuccessful or not, usually at the dressings or 3 month review.
- If you notice a problem outside of the redressing appointments or the 3 month follow up then you will need to make an appointment for assessment. This will be billed as a separate consultation. The podiatrist will then determine if nail surgery is unsuccessful and if repeat nail surgery is required.
3. Nail surgery will be deemed unsuccessful if:
a) There is significant nail regrowth causing a problem, pain or chronic infection in the 12 months post-surgery
b) The original problem or ingrown toenail returns within a 12 month time frame
4. This guarantee does not apply to the following issues present pre or post-surgery:
a) Fungal nail infections
b) Ingrown toenails affecting other toes or other sides of nails that were not included in the original surgical procedure
c) Retronychia or ingrown nails affecting the proximal nail fold which are caused by trauma
d) Thickened, damaged or poor cosmetic toenails
e) Poor nail growth
f) Issues with local anaesthetic
g) Issues with post-op infection, unless caused by a re-offending nail spike
h) Issues arising from severe trauma to the nail post-surgery
i) Issues arising from poor footwear or excessive pressure on the nail
j) Issues that present 12 months or more post-surgery
4. Repeat nail surgery
- All nail surgery that needs to repeated will be at the sole discretion of the podiatrist.
- If nail surgery is to be repeated then it will be the same procedure, performed by the same podiatrist under the same sterile surgical conditions. You will have to schedule an appointment for all repeat nail surgery.
- All repeat nail surgery must be scheduled within a 12 month period from the date of the original nail surgery. Any nail surgery performed after a 12 month time frame will be considered a new nail surgery procedure and will be charged accordingly.
4. Consultation costs
- Nail surgery that needs to be repeated will be performed at no extra charge provided the patient has attended all dressing appointments and the 3 month post-surgery review.
- Nail surgery that needs to be repeated before any 3 month review may be charged at the cost of the 3 month review (standard consultation). No extra surgical fees will apply.
- Nail surgery that needs to be repeated after the 3 month review will be performed at no extra charge. However any consultation for prior assessment, to determine if nail surgery needs to be repeated, will be billed as a standard consultation charge.
- All redressing appointments are included in the cost of repeat nail surgery. The 3 month post-surgery review for repeat nail surgery remains as a separate billed consultation.
- Failure to attend any no charge appointment including redressings may result in a consultation charge being applied by the podiatrist at the next appointment.
5. Refunds
- Refunds do not apply under this guarantee.
- No refunds or compensation will be given for unsuccessful surgery. Patients will only be given the option of a repeat nail surgery procedure.
- A patient may choose to not proceed with repeat nail surgery procedure or they may choose to seek another provider. No refunds or compensation will apply in these situations.
